Beth's Story

Life I was part of the graduating class of 1975. Then I went on to bigger and better things......... Who am I? At AOB I was sometimes referred to as "Washtub". I was one of those "keener" types who sought the high marks but tried not to be a nerd all of the time. Hard to imagine how others saw you, but I did enjoy a good laugh, a good dance, and a good party!!! besides trying to get those high marks! I might be remembered as the newest girlfriend of Tom Walls in Grade 12 but I had to steal him away from Colleen ???? (she was the one who drove a purple Caddy with white leather seats and sang her heart out, besides all of her many other??? talents. I participated a lot in music, and sang with a smaller group of girls as well as the whole music class, when I would sometimes become the piano person when that really sweet young lady music teacher??? wanted to concentrate her efforts on standing in everybody else's face to get them to Sing!!! Tom and I hung out a whole bunch with Rick Strzelec (hope I got the spelling right) and Darleen West (who flashed a 1 karat diamond in Grade 12 and went on to become Mrs. Strzelec and was the envy of a few girls, me being one of them, because they were "the perfect couple"). Hopefully that brings up a few reminders of my "image". These days, I live in a different city, still Alberta, and am a single mom with one fantastic 13 year old daughter (a miracle child but that is a story all to itself), and am divorced but kind of an ex-widow (my ex died when my daughter was only 5), unattached again, and trying to enjoy life. I got myself a professional career at U o...Expand for more
f A and put 8 years in after that with the R.C.M.P. Forensic Lab in our dear home town as an (I know you won't believe this) Alcohol Specialist (I know some of us were working on that career while attending AOB). And of course my favorite TV show has become CSI (just joking)!! During my adventures with our national police force I became very hooked up with the Chief Homicide Detective (he always told me that alcohol and murder don't mix and he was right) and ended up moving totally away due to his transfer back to boring old detachment duty. Small town life became my new world for a while, way down south of the North Pole, and I resumed my profession that matched my University Degree until the present day. A big murder case by someone named Charles Ng took away almost every minute of this past homicide detective's time (I got lots of visits to California for awhile as this police person I lived with worked on the big extradition case rather than in his home town detachment) so I decided to make my alone time official and became single old me again. Met my husband, had this miracle child (ask me about it) and soon became a simgle mom, all the while working full time at my career. I just left the house that I bought for my new baby some 14 years ago and now live in "kind of" the house of my dreams just 1&1/2 months ago, and continue to keep making it more beautiful (only in my opinion, of course). And that's about where you would find me today, hanging another picture or still finding more things to clean.................. Would love to catch up on other stories from AOB.
