Beth's Story
Life
It has been 27 years since graduation, Oh my gosh that is a long time. I wish I had not lost touch with so many friends from school, those truly were some of the funniest, happiest times in our lives.
I have been married for almost 15 years and live on the Intercoastal in Daytona Beach, FL. We have an incredible 12 year old daughter who is almost taller than I am (thank goodness she won't be short like me, and she is definately the best thing I have ever done in my life. Our other children have always been Labrador retrievers. My husband and I own a wholesale/import fresh flower business. Our company has allowed me to travel to many wonderful places both in the U.S. and abroad. I travel to Ecuador and Colombia frequently, and for all of you fellow French class members with Miss Yerich, you realize how little you remember conversational French when you are in the country and trying to get around, ha! I have now completely ditched any chance of remembering French and have switched completely to Spanish. I wish I would have paid more attention to it in school. I have to use Spanish in my work every day dealing with the flower farms. In our very limited recreational time we like to go out in the boat watching manatee and dolphin, go fishing in the intercoastal, or read.
I would love to hear from anyone, including L.C.H.S. Faculty and catch up on old times before we get to darned old to remember them anymore!

. Right out of school I worked in a retail clothing store and in a Flower shop, and at Snack Jacks in Walton as a breakfast- lunch cook. Sometimes I did all three of those in one day! Flowers have always been something I was good at, so I gravitated in that area and became a floral designer full time. After moving to Florida I have worked in 3 flower Shops, and was the Manager of one of them, before jumping into the wholesale side of the industry twenty years ago. It is very complex and not at all what people think it is once they learn about it. I do all of the buying for the company that I own with my husband. So I spend each day spending lots of money buying flowers that we in turn sell to retail florists all over the United States. I talk with many people daily in Colombia, Ecuador, California, and occasionally Thailand. It is always interesting and the flower market is much like the stock market, prices fueled by supply, demand and weather. I frequently travel to South America visiting farms and going to flower shows. I sometimes work with a major flower importer in Miami helping plan their rose production, what varieties to plant and which to remove based on the market. I have traveled in Florida doing a few speaking engagements on rose care and handling for various florist associations. I actually only design for personal pleasure now, or will sometimes free lance to help a local shop out in need at a holiday, etc.
I am hoping to open a floral related internet based business in the near future, and to take our company to a new level.
