Beth's Story

My other bio was so old that my son wasn't even born yet (he's almost 3!!), so I guess it's time for an update. I live in Connecticut with my husband and son, both named Mike, and my old, sweet cat Josie and our tropical fish. My son is 3 and is a good boy. He loves cars (anything from the movie CARS too!), trains, and especially...guitars. He walks into a room and yells, "ROCKSTAR!" He's the shy one in the family, as you can tell. My husband went to culinary school and is a trained chef, but the money to start in that business at this stage of life was just not there, especially for the cost of living in CT. So, he stayed where he was as a toolmaker and has done very well with his current job. He's a great guy. I am so lucky to have him. I definitely got the better end of the bargain! He goes grocery shopping, helps cook/clean, bathes our son/reads to him - we alternate, laundry, everything. I appreciate all he does - he works very, very hard. We are so happy and content together - we'll be rocking on the porch together in 40 years! <3 Now about me...let's see...I finally finished my Bachelor's degree. I graduated in May of '07 (you need to be sitting down for this next part!), summa cum laude - really! HAHAHA! Seriously, I worked full time, went to school part time, and had a baby. My degree is in Communications with concentrations in Promotional and Organizational Communications. Basically, I know how to tell a business to present a message (or presentation of any kind) to any particular audience. I am currently con...Expand for more
sulting with a company that does (you're still sitting, right?) nuclear non-proliferation and radiation detection and analysis. They recently won the contracts for cleaning up spent fuel rods to store at Yucca Mountain (if that ever gets off the ground) and a huge contract for the Savannah River NPP in Aiken - turning old uranium into renewable energy (or something..!). I work in the Proposal/Sales group on bids over 1M. I am not a salesperson, I just make the proposals "sexy" (industry term!). So, that is what I am doing for the moment. I get paid more than I should and am lucky enough to work from home as often as I want/can. For fun, hmmm...things I enjoy: photography, digital art, genealogy (I was voted into Daughters of the American Revolution in October - I have 21 Revolutionary War Patriot ancestors that I know of, but that is just one branch - still researching), music, movies, reading (novels, biographies, history, historical novels, poetry, short stories, etc.), writing, making memory books/journals for Mike (I do not scrapbook-no time, just stick pictures and mementos in books!), travel, garden (herb/flower) and I love walking and riding my bike. Oh, and sleep. I love sleep, but don't get to do that very often! Well, that's all, I guess. Please let me know what you've been up to and how your life is unfolding! I am happy to hear from all of my old friends and classmates and would love for you to stop by if you're ever in New England! I live 1/2 way between NYC and Boston, so we could hop on the train and visit! Beth
