Beth's Story

I spend most of my time over on Facebook, so if you're over there, please look me up. Career-wise, I am a developer/consultant by way of a degree in mass communications. God has an interesting way of giving us the desires of our hearts if we are just patient and try to enjoy the ride. I transferred to Taylor University as a computer science major but could not handle the MATH requirements. Very strange since I had done well in math in high school. So, I switched to mass communications and found a new love - writing. Many moons later, the company I was working for wanted to train people who knew the business to be programmers. I applied and was selected. I am currently the owner/senior web developer/consultant with Alpha And Omega By Design. I love my work. Other things about me: I am an amateur writer and conservative blogger when I have time. Seems like I am always in need of more time... ...and more caffeine! I enjoy reading true life stories. I particularly enjoy politics, WWII, Russian and European history. I'm a social media butterfly in training. Speaking of training, I love to work out but never seem to have enough time to do it. I am a former radio DJ (oh the stories!) and twirled baton growing up. I didn't want to grow up. To prove it, I was selected to be Peter Pan in a play in the 5th grade. Among other roles, I also played Puck in "A Midsummer Night's Dream" at Taylor University. Dr. Hubbard told me I was cast in this part because I "look like Puck." Hmmmm... Two of...Expand for more
my most cherished stuffed toys are my Christmas elves, Herbie and Sam. I'm beginning to see a correlation in all of this! :) I've had a love of music for as long as I can remember. I still own the violin and guitar I played in my youth. I love to sing and have been blessed with a "better-than-shower-ready" voice. I sang a solo in Notre Dame! This is what happens when you are looking at the surroundings and come in a measure early! I could be happy spending the rest of my life traveling - especially on a cruise ship. My dream home would be aboard ResidenSeas The World. I absolutely love our yearly break from the brutal Chicago winters with a Caribbean cruise. I enjoy meeting people from different parts of the world and have discovered underneath, most of us are pretty much the same. I am Michael W. Smith's biggest fan. I was blessed to meet my husband, Dave, while in St. Thomas on a Kathy Troccoli and Friends cruise while traveling with nearly 40 friends from my church at the time in Louisville, KY, Southeast Christian. We discovered that both graduated from Taylor University in 1987, knew of each other but did not know each other. Our first date was a Michael W. Smith concert. In case you missed it earlier, I am a huge fan of Smitty's music. We arrived to the concert without tickets yet still wound up on the FRONT ROW! I told the usher not to toy with me when he stopped at our seats. :) Yeah, it was a God thing! Most of all, I love laughing and sharing good times with great friends.
