Betty's Story
Life
My Spouse
We met street drag racing in Colorado Springs in 1966.
My Daddy passed away in 1992.
My Mother passed away Dec 31, 2005.
My Husband (of almost 40 years) passed away May 2006.
Man, you just get them broken in, then they just up and leave!!! ;)
He was a disabled Viet Nam vet. He was career military -enlisted. We lived in Colorado Springs; Dallas Texas (during a break in service); Bindlach and Wurzburg, Germany; Lawton, Oklahoma, Astoria (Hammond...try saying that with an "Okie" accent) Oregon; and finally Tacoma, Washington.
I recently moved to the Key Peninsula, a rural area a few miles outside of Tacoma. It's on a nice fishing lake. Really great folks out here and life moves at a much slower pace here.
Been in the process of moving my "stuff" from Tacoma out here for the past year and a half. And I'm not done yet!Should have just had a commercial mover do it!!!
I worked most of the time as a Federal Employee, mostly for the Department of the Army, in...Expand for more
clerical positions. Although I had higher expectations of my life's outcome, I wouldn't change a thing. I enjoyed my jobs and the stability federal employment offered.
Life was like a bed of roses, lots of thorns, but many beautiful blossoms...my husband, Phil, and my son, Phillip, being just a couple of them.
My Pets
Used to raise Scottish terriers.
Raised and showed Alaskan Malamutes for 17 years. Now I have five canines, (border collie/black lab/? mix--"Bonzai", border collie--"Zeke", Mini Australian Shepherd--"Mr. Bo Jangles", and a golden retriever--"Cody", and finally a lab/rottweiler mix--"Lucy".)
Would like to get into agility training. I have never been completely away from dogs.
My Kids
My son is a electrical engineer technician (and computer technician).
He was in the U.S. Who's Who of his community college class.
My first job was at Woolworth's, where I got paid $.75/hr to waitress. What I remember most about it is meeting interesting people..
