Bev's Story
I was married for 32 years and had 2 sons. My youngest one died in 2006. This relationship ended in 1999.
In 2000 I met my soul mate, Dan, who was a Nisga'a Chief. We met in Prince Rupert where I was a taxi driver/city clerk. After he retired in 2002, we moved to New Aiyansh, in the Nass Valley. We had a great life until he passed away in 2007.
I have finally retired. Because my driving licence is in demand in the community I occasionally drive the the shuttle bus as required.
Also I am in the process of adopting Dan's grand-daughter, Davi, who has been in foster homes most of her life.

t hard keeping up with them.
I fell in love with this valley and it has to be one of the most beautiful places in the world. It contains one of the most recent lava flows in history, with gorgeous blue glacial pools glistening in the sun, while the mountains surrounding glisten with snow. I also fell in love with the ideals of the Nisga'a who take care of their own. And I'm included!
So I am very busy here with lots of friends. I do a lot of volunteer work - cooking, helping Elders, etc. We have quite a few feasts here for deaths, marriages, anniversaries, stone-movings so there is usually something to do.
Going to town (Terrace) to shop is a full day excursion too. Terrace is 100 km away so travelling there and back is about 2-1/2 hours.
