Beverley's Story
Life
Bev started out in Redlands, California as a dorky 4-eyed sci-fi loving geek who would regularly get beat up after band class. She remained a misfit in her high school years in both Redding and Thousand Oaks, California, leading her to base her college choices on schools which offered study abroad programs. She finally managed to escape as a college junior to spend a year at university in London. This endeavor proved completely alien, as she discovered how surprisingly different English culture  and even the English language  is from that of the US.
Bev completed her college degree in Philosophy at University of California Riverside, and went on to law school at University of San Francisco School of Law, all the while continuing to explore her interests in other cultures with classes such as Belly Dancing and Middle Eastern Culture and Japanese Taiko Drumming. She graduated from law school and passed the bar exam on her first try, but had a harder time breaking into a law firm due to the L.A. Law enthusiast-driven glut in the legal community. The next thing she knew, Bev had been working as an Employee Benefits/Retirement Plan attorney for 10 years, and was constantly yearning to travel and explore other countries. She earned her Masters degree in Tax Law from Golden Gate University in San Francisco, but still felt there were other things out there to learn.
Bev and her husband Andy decided to move to Zihuatanejo, Mexico in 2001. Bev continued to ...Expand for more
work for her company via telecommuting and frequent flights back to San Francisco for the first year after the big move, and then shifted her focus homewards. Currently she manages AndyÂs computer software business, chases around her lovely daughter Trinity, and because that was not enough to fill her time, Bev has launched two new businesses in Zihuatanejo. The first business is Mexico Relocation Services, which is intended to smooth and expedite the process for others moving to Zihuatanejo. The second business, WeHeartZihua, is a community website for like-minded expatriates, tourists, vagabonds and wanderlusts. The websiteÂs target audience is people who want to explore the Zihuatanejo-Ixtapa area without compromising adventure, relaxation, environmental and cultural awareness or budget.
Although Bev has settled down in Zihuatanejo, she continues to pursue her international interests through cooking. Her friends travel the world with her as she serves Thai, Indian, Chinese, Japanese, British, Mexican and Cajun foods at regular dinner parties. When Bev isnÂt in the kitchen or indulging her continued love affair with sci-fi, you can find her walking on the beach with her daughter, Trinity, in the stroller or at a local restaurant indulging in someone elseÂs cooking. In addition to dreams of ending poverty, reducing green house gases and promoting world peace, Bev dreams of having a swimming pool in her backyard and owning a stainless steel gas barbecue.
