*********UPDATED UPDATE, lol . ************
September 2018
I have been retired since 6/4 of this year !!
I moved to a nearby suburb, Forest Park ; for the first time in 35 years, I'm back to living on by myself. Very different ! Eventually , I'll work part-time at something else.
If you want to contact me, I can be found on the Lincoln High School Class Page.

So... 43 years ago I turned 18, left family, friends and all things familiar and went away to college to study piano / music ed. at Univ. of Cincinnati. Wasn't really sure if that's what I really wanted to do, but that was a start. I graduated in 1980. Then I worked at odd jobs for about a year and a half there, i.e. teaching piano at a downtown community center, and working at a soulfood restaurant at Union Terminal - the most fun on a job I've ever had {except maybe hostessing at Perkins with Mike Loftus on busy Sunday mornings. ]
Out of the blue one summer, I got...Expand for more
involved in learning how to help children with reading difficulties, which I did for a month. In the fall I took a course on Learning Disabilities and worked for the next 9 months as an L.D. tutor in the Cincinnati public schools. Wound up in grad school in 1982 and came out with a M.Ed in Spec. Ed./Learning Disabilities in 1983. Thought I had found my niche - - working in Spec. Ed. rather than in music. Not so. In July of 1983, my then college boyfriend/later husband/now ex-husband and I moved to the Chicago area where I worked in Oak Park initially as an L.D. assistant in the a.m. and a classroom music teacher in the p.m.
I've taught music in Oak Park for 34 years. In many instances , I taught children of my former students which was really cool, yet weird at the same time! My 2 sons, Coleman and Darren, are 20 and 13 and in college/8th grade. Both are musical in their own way, which is pretty cool.
When I find the time (and money), I like to play the piano, go to plays, dance performances, concerts of all kinds, cultural events and go on architectural tours of anything related to Frank Lloyd Wright.
