Beverly's Story
Life
After 20+ years in Information Systems, most of that doing contract work (programmer for hire) in the Raleigh area, I'm enthusiastically pursuing my new career in Retirement! Eight years into my second marriage, I garden, eBay! (shopping for people in the boonies), camp and motorcycle with my husband. My husband has a classic '76 BMW bike for road trips and a dirtbike for local exploring; I have a Ural with sidecar (the dog rides with me!) that works for both. We're also active in a shooting club -- Cowboy Action Shooting (Single Action Shooting Society). We're in Central California in the mountains of the high desert where the cattle roam free. My son is a pastry chef in Raleigh; my daughter is currently working as Assistant Wellness Director at a retirement community in Greensboro.
Update - 10 years later :). Still in California, but in the process of moving to Oregon. Widowed a year ago, I'm finally going forward with the move to the condo that he and I were moving to when - the Universe altered. My son is still a pastry chef, now at a major re...Expand for more
sort property in Hawaii. My daughter is more a child of the 60's than I am :). The masters degree in gerontology got old and she's in the mountains of Costa Rica with her boyfriend doing a work exchange at a retreat property. They'll be in the states for the summer doing a cross-country festival run, then back to Costa Rica for the next tourist season. Every mother's dream :) Lol :) Me a Senior on Medicare??? Are you kidding??? Arrrgh!!!!
Update - 6 years later :) I never moved to Oregon. My single parent son and his son moved from Hawaii to North Carolina. My only grandchild! Where else would I go! :) I spend summers in the mountains doing Stuff with my grandson - who’s now 15 - whose father works nights (still a chef). Maybe one more summer of dinners with him 🤞 My daughter who said she’d never get married met Prince Charming and changed her mind :) They have a hot sauce company in Oregon - he’s a chef! :) (It’s been a big surprise how many Yankees live in NC beaches.) (Can we still say Yankees??)
