Beverly's Story
I'm a widow, retired, in Berkeley, California with 3 grown daughters. At Henrico High, I was in girls' basketball. the newspaper, drill team, chess club, and Spanish club, and I had bit parts in two one-act plays. I took a lot of math, also Latin, Spanish, and German. I spent the summer of 1966 as an American Field Service exchange student in Cali, Colombia. I graduated from Henrico High School in 1967.
I have four sisters: Joy, Jean, Linda (my twin) and Mabel - now known as Niki. My parents were Charles Laforester Todd III and Marie Loiuse Gill Todd. We lived in the old farm house from Wildwood farm, near Chamberlayne Farms. I spent most summers swimming at the Brooklyn Recreation Association.
At Michigan State University, I attended Justin Morrill College, with a field of concentration in math, and I was an RA in Phillips Hall. I spent one semester at...Expand for more
the Universidad de los Andes in Bogota, Colombia, South America. I graduated from MSU in 1971.
I lived in Richmond, Virginia, and worked as a computer programmer/analyst for Virginia DMV, and then for the centralized computer department. In 1978, I moved to Berkeley, California with Thomas Rose, for him to go to grad school. I continued as a computer programmer/analyst, this time for the University of California at Berkeley.
Tom and I married in 1981, bought a house in 1984, and had three daughters: Laura, Katherine, and Merle. Tom died in 2005, and I retired that same year. Since then, I stay busy with the house and kids, and with photography. Two of my daughters live at home while attending college. One daughter is mostly on her own, but stays with me at intervals. I still love to swim, although the summer weather here tends to be a little cool for it.
