Beverly's Story
Life
My husband and I moved to Huntsville, AL, in August 1990 when my husband retired from the U.S. Army. We were living at Fort Monmouth, NJ, and were very happy to be moving south. I still work for the U.S. Army, in the Utility Helicopter Project Office as a Procurement Analyst in Foreign Military Sales. My work is always busy and interesting; however, during the past year I've given more thought to retirement. I don't believe that'll happen for another 3-4 years though. We love our life in Huntsville and the friends we've made since living here!
My Pets
Our family includes one cat, Andy, a brown tabby, and we have two male dogs, Danny and Rusty. Danny is beautiful and appears to be a mixture of terrier and shepherd. In 2007 I went to the local Humane Society's annual Dog Ball in 2007 that resulted in my adopting a Yorkshire Terrier named Rusty. These are the sweetest dogs and they spend their days playing together.
My Kids
My oldest son, Vance, is a Warrant Officer in the U.S. Army and is a UH-60 (Blackhawk) pilot. He has served in Iraq, Honduras and is currently Afghanistan. He is married to Karen, who is a school teacher but is currently a stay at home mom. Vance & Kar...Expand for more
en are parents to granddaughter Kate and grandson Drew. While in Germany before the children were born Karen was selected as the Heidelberg Teacher of the Year for 2005.
My youngest son, Gabriel (Gabe), is in the U.S. Air Force and a member of a pararescue team (they're referred to as PJs (para-jumpers)) in the U.S. Air Force. In 2010 Gabe and Meg were married. Meg has a masters degree in clinical nutrition and works at a hospital in Pinehurst, NC. They are now parents to a beautiful baby boy, James Martin Corey. Gabe is currently in Afghanistan. He has deployed numerous times to Iraq, Afghanistan and other places. It seems he is more often deployed than at home. He climbed a couple of years ago Mount McKinley in Alaska with 4 of his team mates. It took them about 3 weeks to go up and then descend the mountain.
Both of my sons have a zest for life and love what they're doing! I admire them and their accomplishments!
I also have three step-sons, Ed, Tom & Chris. Two of my step-sons, Ed Jr., his family and Chris, live in Texas and Tom, with his family, moved to Alabama a couple of years ago. Ed, Jr. & Tom each have a son and daughter, Austin, Emily, Matthew and Grace.
