Bill's Story
My family moved to the Philadelphia area in the summer of 62, and I attended Msgr. Bonner Catholic H.S. I then went to St. Joseph's College (now Univ) and graduated in 1970 with a physics degree. I married my wife Mary in December of 1970. We both spent the next 25 years teaching physics (and math) at a local Catholic H.S. In 1996 I took a job with the physics department of the University of Pennsylvania as the coordinator of the physics demonstration lab. The job also included some teaching, and outreach coordination. At the end of 2018 I retired from full time work, but I go bac...Expand for more
k to teach in a summer program and help with outreach programs. Mary and I have always enjoyed travelling and the plan was to do a lot of that in retirement--but COVID slowed that plan a lot. We also got distracted by moving to a new house after 30 years. Both those distractions are finally settling down and we hope to get back on the road. For the last 50 years I have been lucky enough to find time to get pretty serious about cameras, climbing, and cars (as well as physics). I haven't retired from any of them, and it's nice to finally have an open schedule to fit everything into.
