Bill's Story

Update -Lynne (my wife of 34 years) and I still live at the beach in Leucadia CA, a little north of San Diego. Our kids are grown and I have just one grandson who is 26. Finished his MFA in film and writing. Graduated with a 3.98 GPA, won a pile of awards at the local film festival, is performing at a comedy club in North Hollywood and writing for a cable show. I am still starting companies and creating new products when I can get up early enough to do something!. My last one - CardioNet(BEAT) went public in 5 years ago. L and I are really seriously into horse racing. One of ours is racing this Sunday at Hollywood Park, four more ready by Christmas. A retired son of Tapit, plus two mares, two foals this last spring and a beautiful yearling in the field. Lynne and her family have their Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame (The Westmores). We bought a home in the Altadena area so we can be close to Caltech and to the Santa Anita Race Track. We kept the place here at the beach, but we have a place to sleep when we are running around LA. I often think of the geeks, freaks, and crazy music people from my high school days. Here's to Danny, Inky, Dick B., Charles S., Suzie Woof-Woof, the Phantom Bunny and last but not least - The Z. Hope you are all happy and healthy! Life and Time move on. Lynne passed away on January 6, 2017.. The cause was Alzheimer's. God what a terrible disease. I didn't think I would survive. I held her, hugged her, told her how much I loved her - and she had no idea who I was. None. Eventually she just faded a...Expand for more
way, stopped breathing and I was alone. So I signed up for an old timers dating website- and the first and only women I met, was a retired school teacher who's husband of many years died of Parkinson's complications. Deb's husband had fallen out of bed and broken his neck. She and I began talking, and talking, and talking. And we finally went out on a date three months later. I called her one day and asked if she would like to go to Santa Anita to see one of my horses run in a race, and "oh by the way" I was bringing my step son and grandson along. She said sure, and she would bring her brother and their friend. It was like the meeting of two mafia families. We discovered that we had soo much in common. It was almost crazy. We both love to travel. We are academics. She's a Phi Beta Kappa. I've got dozen's of patents. We are completely liberal. We love to go to functions at Caltech, and spend afternoons at the local museum and galleries. Deb has degrees in art and we have an extensive art collection. So one Friday afternoon, we took over the faculty club at Caltech, invited about 100 friends and partied until we dropped. And formally got married!!! We are still very happily married. COVID has made a mess of our traveling the world. Let us hope that the worst is behind us. Yes, we have both had two shots, but we are still waiting to travel and we both wear our masks religiously. Later. We now have had four shots, for what it is worth. and deb got Covid anyway. We still mask up. I have been lucky. Best, Bill
