Bill's Story

About me: Hard to categorize. Live near Dallas, TX, by way of New Jersey and New York. I'm a hospice chaplain, which has given me scores of stories! I've got three grown children -- a few stories there, as well! Became a grandpa for the first time in November, 2006. Love music, movies and outdoors, and am an avid reader. Also a fan of games and animals. I love my Sirius radio! Few places I'd rather be than on a beach. Stuff I think is funny includes Dave Barry, Mitch Hedberg, Brian Regan, Howard Stern, Seinfeld and Randy Galloway. Very much interested in Biblical studies and theology -- was a pastor for fourteen years. Who I'd like to meet: I'm a people watcher, and I enjoy getting to know all kinds of different people. Not fond of people who want to do all the talking, and am frustrated by people who want me to do all the talking. .. * Interests: Running, playing guitar/bass, camping/hiking. Pizza, beaches, trips to Mexico, maduro cigars, hanging out. Laughing. Negra Modelo, frozen Margaritas (no salt!). Following college and pro sports -- Syracuse Orangemen and the Big East, NY Giants, Yankees, NY Rangers and Knicks (but also have learned to root for the TX Rangers and the Mavericks). Backgammon, disk golf, cards...Expand for more
, games of all sorts. General interest in weirdos. Hieronymus Bosch, Salvador Dali, Lynch's Eraserhead, surrealism. * Music Pretty eclectic. The Beatles, Stones, Weezer, Audio Adrenaline, Kinks, John McLaughlin, String Cheese Incident, Doors, Frederic Chopin, Bob Bennett, Pink Floyd, Albert King, Modest Mouse, Bob Dylan, Foo Fighters, Talking Heads, System of a Down, David Bowie, Everclear, Jimi Hendrix, Return to Forever, Claude Debussy . . . * Movies Big movie fan. Some of my all-time favorites include The Shawshank Redemption, Tender Mercies, About Schmidt, Papillon, Annie Hall, the movies of David Lynch, Joel & Ethan Coen, Stanley Kubrick . . . and I'm also drawn to some of the old, silent comedies (especially Chaplin, Keaton and Lloyd). * Television Not so much. "I need TV when I got T-Rex?" .. * Books Love literary fiction -- some of my favorites are Raymond Carver, Anton Chekhov, Leo Tolstoy, George Eliot, H.G. Wells and James Joyce. Also enjoy history, philosophy, archaeology, and anything related to Biblical studies. Enjoy the Greek and Hebrew languages. .. * Heroes "there goes my hero/ watch him as he goes/ there goes my hero/ he's ordinary" ..
