Bill's Story
Life
Moved from Compton after finishing Emerson elementary to Lakewood in 1959 where attended Demille Jr High and Lakewood Hi. Ran on the cross-country and track teams and set school records in 3/4, 1 and 2 mile distances. Attended LBCC, then LBSC for 1 year. Moved to Berkeley and got BS in electrical engineering in 1970. There was lots of campus strife around this time: People's Park, Eldridge Cleaver, Vietnam, Cambodia, etc. Did graduate work studying electron beams and then went to work for Etec in Hayward, a maker of electron microscopes. ve followed that career as the company became Perkin-Elmer, then Applied MAterials and I mostly designed electron beam columns for semiconductor lithography tools. That work ended in 2006 and since then I've done engineering consulting and since Oct 2008 been a substitute teacher at Castro Valley USD in High and Middle schools.
I married in 1988 and have a 18 year-old daughter, Carla.We all live together in Hayward.
My interests include: playing guitar, singing with friends and the local community chorus, hiking and backpacking, and the sciences.
