Bill's Story

Life I'm a cartoonist. I co-created "Tank McNamara," and have been drawing it for 30+ years. I created Buzz Beamer for Sports Illustrated Kids magazine. I've been doing a monthly Buzz magazine cartoon since 1989, and am now also doing a weekly Buzz Flash animation at sikids.com. Buzz has been featured in SI...Expand for more
KIDS TV specials on HBO and NBC. My newest creation is a comic strip about parents, kids and sports called Cleats. Cleats runs in about 50 newspapers. You can find both Tank and Cleats at gocomics.com. I'm married, and we have three kids (intermediate, high school and college). I also have a nice dog.

Our first child, Hannah, turns 25 today. She's done an excellent job on her first quarter century.
I came across this art today. It's from the time when I was in college in the 70s doing freelance work for the Houston Post. It was for an article about gold diggers during the women's liberation movement.

I'm pretty sure the "Hinds" side of my family is English. My mother's maiden name though was McGuire. Sounds Irish to me. I'm using nothing but green ink today. Here's a pic of Dorothy Margaret McGuire wielding a shillelagh.
