William's Story
Life is Great
Well, where do I start, my life hasn't been boring, but very exciting. I attended JC Fremont Jr. High (Anaheim), CA) 7th & 8th grade, then moved to John Day, OR attended Grant Union HS (9th-10th yrs), then moved to Fortuna, CA, attended Fortuna HS 11th & 12th year, graduated in 1963. Lastly attended Humboldt State University in Arcata, CA 1963-1967. My major was Busniess Adm. & Management and minor in Economics. Also, served in the US Army during the Vietnam War as a Medic and was stationed in Europe (Munich, Germany) to serve. After College I worked for Payless NW Drug Stores (15 yrs.), as a Store Manager-- trouble shooter, moving from store to store (in 3 diff. states) making the stores profitable. Then, I got into the Military Food Broker business and became the Divisional Sales Manager for Webco covering the West Coast, Hawaii, Alaska and Far East for 37 yrs. I have meet a lot of people in my life, some famous, i.e. Harrison Ford on a plane trip from Alaska to San Francisco ( 5 hrs.--he a great guy), some Movie Stars, Sports Stars, some Nascar Drivers.
I lived in great areas, too i.e. Las Vegas, NV., Monterey CA area, Napa, CA,, Kapolei, Hawaii and now live in Roseville, CA (Sarcamento, CA area). I lived in Hawaii for 2 yrs. and Managed Fleming Foods Military Division. I worked for Fleming Distributor Division in Hawaii as the Military Sales Manager over seeing $110M in sales to the Military Commissaries and Exchanges. It's was a great...Expand for more
job. Well all good things must come to an end. Fleming filed Chapter 11 in April 2003, so I went back working for Webco, running the West Coast, Hawaii & Alaska for them. I moved to Empire Ranch in Folsom, CA, then to Lincoln and now in Roseville, CA.. It's a Sun City Del Webb community. The only way to live, so much to do and great people as your neighbors. I have 3 children and 2 Granddaughters and 3 grandsons, all 3 children doing great in their personal and careers.. Well, after 57 years working, I'm going to finally "Retired", effective 2/15/2017. I have always enjoyed life and now I'm going to enjoy it even more . Well, I took a couple of years off from working 12-16 hour days in Retail. Now I guess I wasn't ready to retire, as I'm to young to retire. HA HA Going to go into Real Estate as an Agent. I took my test and "Passed". so now I'm a License Real Estate Agent with Excel Realty in Roseville, CA as of January 2019. I always wanted to stay busy and living here in Sun City Roseville sure does keep one "Busy". SCR Softball is starting back up with practice and our league starts in March-July, plus Golf, "Boomers Club", Sunshine group (we're a volunteer to help people in need within SCR--I help when people need canes, walkers, or wheel chairs, plus all the other things this group does within SCR, and Chair for the Architectural Review Committee (ARC), and all the other things to do here. Take care and have a Great Day!! Everyone. Bill Hunter
