Bill's Story
THE LATEST: Currently live in Connecticut, since Dec 08. Moved here to take a position as VP of Marketing at Really Good Stuff, Inc. Really love this job, get to manage a great team that markets via catalogs and website selling fun and creative teaching tools to elementary classroom teachers.
Have been married to Trish since May 2010 (that makes me a newlywed!). I have two step kids, Casey (12) and Sean (9), as well as a son from prior marriage, Grayson (16).
My career since leaving the Navy has been in Direct Marketing and catalogs (also ecommerce, since late 90's). I have had some great experiences, though I've moved more than I'd have preferred! Prior to that, I spent 6 years in the Navy, specifically in nuclear submarines, which kept me at sea a lot (and THAT explains so much :) Alas, I did not find the sea calling me to a full fledged career. Plus it was really hard to meet women.
THE REMINISCING: Remembering high school... In the category of what-was-I-thinking-then, women I SHOULD have asked out, but did not (alphabetical order): Nancy Edwards ('77), Karen Johnson, Roneva Putnam, Rita Mayhair, Debbie Robbins ('76), Susan Rutkowski, Nancy Strickland ('80), Anne Williams.
Best guy friends: Dave Mills, John Holdnak, Billy Williams, Brian Sabourin, Mark Williams, Bill Lisenby, Mike Rutledge.
Best female friends:...Expand for more
Karen Chewning, Janet Schwind, Pam Grice, Donna Spera, Anne Williams, Melanie Gambill, Dinah Stafford, Rita Stacks, Pam Tarpley, Amy Cheatham, Marvic Apilado, Mindy Moody ('77), Sylvia Silivos.
Girlfriends: Not much of a dater then (way too serious about my studies!)... the only "dating relationships" were with Karen Chewning, Laura Stewart (Class of '81), Donna Spera, Melanie Gambill, Sylvia Silivos and Kimberly Reuss... but of course, not all at the same time!
Best teachers: Sandy Young (English), Jackie Young (AP Euro History), David Keller (Psychology), Charles Nye Sr. (Track coach)... they believed in me, inspired me!
Rock bands I participated in: "MidKnight" w/ Jim Anderson (guitar/vocal), Mac McCraney ('79, keyboards), Doug Merritt ('79, bass), Paul Gormley (drums), me (guitar/vocal). Also as freshman, was in "Third Power" w/ John Servies (drums) and Mark McCagg (bass). As best as I know, our bands (which would play for free, anywhere allowed!) contributed little or nothing to the development or memorable history of American Classic Rock. However, if any of you former bandmates are now famous rock stars, please mention me in your autobiography, thanks.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;
In all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will make your paths straight.
