Bill's Story
Life
After graduating from high school, I attended Jacksonville University, where I earned a degree in biology, with minors in chemistry and marine science. While at JU, I was involved in many things, including being a brother in Sigma Nu fraternity and active in various extra curricular activities. Believe it or not I was a DJ on the college radio station. After graduating from JU, I took a year off to work in the real world and decided to pursue a Masters of Science degree in biology at the University of Mississippi. I conducted research that examined the effects of agrichemicals on aquatic ecosystems and graduated in August 2003. es, food, and music of that very lovely state. I am currently pursuing a PhD degree in Environmental Engineering Sciences at the University of Florida where I work in the Center for Wetlands and teach at local middle schools with a high percentage of low income students as part of a National Science Foundation grant. My current research focuses on stream and wetland ecology of North Central and Northeast Florida. Outside of the world of academia, I still like to go to baseball games and have a cold beverage with peanuts or take in a concert featuring local musicians (especially a Jacksonville band called Mofro and a Memphis band called Snowglobe). I have even been known to take the stage myself a time or two. If you want to get in touch with me, just drop me a note or email me sometime.
