Blair's Story
Graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1978 with a Bachelor of Science degree, and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant of Infantry.
Served in various command and staff positions during a 28-year Army career, including multiple assignments in the 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg, NC (including Operations DESERT SHIELD/DESERT STORM); the U.S. Army Special Forces in El Salvador and other locations in Central America; and command of a battalion in the 101st Airborne Division.
Assigned as a force planner in the Office of the Secretary of Defense staff in the Pentagon; and as a brigade commander in the XVIII Airborne Corps at Fort Bragg. Was then Chief of Staff of the US Armyâs Southern European Task Force in Italy, including service...Expand for more
as the Chief of Staff for the Joint Task Force that executed contingency operations to restore order in Liberia in 2003. Was then Director of Staff of NATOâs Joint Force Command for southern Europe, integrating multinational staff efforts in overseeing NATO operations in the Balkans, the Mediterranean Sea, and Iraq.
Retired from active duty on 1 October 2006. Following retirement, worked for five years as a Senior Program Manager at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, Oak Ridge, Tennessee.
Spent six years as the Vice President for Operations and Chief Technology Officer for Murray Guard, Inc., in Jackson, Tennessee. When the company was bought out in 2018, I semi-retired to Shelbyville, TN. Now consulting and taking on the odd defense/security-related contract.
