I went to CSU in 2003 and I changed my major from Theater to English Education to Early Childhood Education and graduated in December 2011 with a BS in Early Childhood. I taught Pre-K for five years from 2013 - 2018. I married Sam Martin Lewis in 2012 and he passed away in 2015. He was a Ranger in the ARMY. I wanted to learn about what ultimately lead to his passing and I didn’t understand the medical records nor would anyone let me know what caused him to experience cardiac arrest. I went back to school to study these kinds of things so I would better understand what killed him. I decided to take Astronomy as a minor. I am a sky watcher, it’s one of my favorite hobbies. I fell in love with astronomy but there was no major for astronomy at CSU so I decided to take Astrophysics and Planetary Geology and make my minor chemistry instead. One of my mentors told me that pain will only get you so far but passion gets you to the finish line. I feel that. Sam would have wanted me to do something I really loved rather than chase something I may never know.
