Blythe's Story
For the first time in my life I'm not living in Kansas anymore. My family moved in 2007 from Kansas City to the Raleigh, NC area. Boy do I miss my friends and family but North Carolina is a beautiful place to live! I can't complain. You can be sure during the Final Four tournament this year that I was sporting my Kansas Jayhawk gear wherever I went. Because there are so many transplants here in Raleigh, it has been easy to make friends and we have even made new Kansas friends here.
My husband and I have 3 beautiful children. A 5 year old daughter who will enter Kindergarten this year and 3 year old twin boys that keep me running. One of our twins was diagnosed at 20 months of age with autism. enters Kindergarten. I am constantly learning about autism and what I can do to help him. Right now I have been corresponding with North Carolina legislators to get a bill passed to support an early intervention model. Hopefully the next step will be that North Carolina will realize that they need to help make insurance companies support parents monetarily as treating autism is expensive.
We usually come back to Wichita at Christmas time to see my father and his wife and my husband's family. I never seem to run into anyone while in town because the visits are too short except for scheduled outings with old friends while I am there. I do keep in regular contact with Christa Rude, Tricia Bumpus, Jean Hupp, Tracy and Stacy Taylor.
I am looking forward to catching up with all my old classmates at our 20 year reunion in the summer of 2009. I hope to see you there!
