School High School was a real drag--I was an A - D student. If I liked it I did very well, if I didn't, I did just enough to pass--I CHEATED MYSELF. When I finally attended college, I found out that I did get a good education in HS! Work was an even bigger drag--Alaska Dept of Highways for almost 10 years. Too young to make foreman and too smart to stay as a peon. College was a challenge, I started when non-traditional (at the age of 29) was not "cool." Excelled in almost all areas--except Political Science--the jerks there graded on What you said and not how well it was said or articulated--always a rebel and liberal. My Master's degree was also a blast to get--NO ONE IN HIGH SCHOOL WOULD HAVE DREAMED THAT I WOULD BECOME A PRINCIPAL! GHS Panther's still rule! UPDATE 2013 Bob Absher Day 372 of my big adventure! Left Glennallen 7/6/12 and now on the return trip back. In between, I have attended my son John's wedding to Kyla on Kluane Lake in the Yukon, gone from SLC to Barrhead, AB for the reception, I have flown back and forth to AK three times, driven the Alcan twice, spent 2.5 weeks on the Kittimat fishing (western coastal BC), stayed in Salt Lake City, flown to Myrtle Beach, driven to Belgium, Wisconsin (Chicago) for Thanksgiving, driven to Seattle, flown to Milwaukee, spent three days in national and state parks in Moab, Utah, flown to Indianapolis and driven to Kentucky and Tennessee, gone to a family reunion in Batesville, IN, spent Jan. to June going to Huntsman Cancer Institute in SLC, and finally now headed back to Alaska in three car convoy with my friend Linda and daughter Laura Nishek and her husband Doug and the...Expand for more
