Bob's Story
Life
I was born to poor but proud parents in a dirt shack in Davenport, Iowa in 1954. Well, actually I was born in St. Lukes Hospital, the same place where Cary Grant died. And my parents weren't all that poor. Just average middle class people struggling to make a living in the Eisenhower Years.
Then I went to school and then I went to college and then I dropped out of college for a few years and "partied" for a few years before going back to school, this time at St. Ambrose. Then I moved to Florida and was a sportswriter for the Daytona Beach newspaper and had a riot covering NASCAR etc., except it doesn't pay much, so I got other jobs for more money. Then I met another midwestern who fled the cold for FLA and we got hitched and had kids and moved back to the Midwest. We live in a small town in Indiana that is part Mayberry and part Green Acres ifyou know what I mean. I run the local newspaper and act ...Expand for more
like I run the town when actually I'm just taking it easy in a small, safe town where there is no real crime to speak of, the people are friendly and I don't have a bunch of bosses breathing down my neck; examining everything I'm doing on a daily basis.
We have twin daughters, 12 years old, and I know that some of you have grandkids older than that, but as Frank Sinatra said, "Thats Life."
They keep me amused and happy and busy and broke. We like to watch SpongeBob Square Pants together and go to the parks and talk about the good old days when the air was clean and sex was dirty.
Well, I've got to go. See you gators later.
Workplace
I am the new information minister for the Iraqi government. Just kidding.
Currently a small-town newspaper editor. Before that I worked for some specialty trade magazines and before those I was a sportswriter in Daytona Beach, Fla., which was a good job but pay was minimal.
