"After graduation I started college only have it interrupted by Uncle Sam. Given the choices, I opted to go into the Illinois Army National Guard. What was an initial eight year obligation that turned into 32 years of service before retiring from the guard. I served in different units as a Military Policeman, Communications supervisor, Aviation Parts supervisor, Procurement NCO, in charge of Staging Base for 5,000+ soldiers and lastly responsible for the state drug testing program my last 15 years. Along the way I became friends with some people who you may be familiar with, Bobby Douglas (Chicago Bears), Tammy Duckworth (Il. Senator), Gov. Pritzker’s cousin (Pritzker Military Library founder) and last but not least Laurence Tureaud (Mr. T).
