Bob's Story

Life In the major new news department, I have returned to Lake County Indiana after being away almost three decades! We now live in Crown Point. I am married to Shirley (25 years), and we have two children. Josh is 22 and a Senior at the University of Chicago, studying pre-law. Marie is 18 and a college Freshman at Wheaton College in IL. She plans on being a medical doctor. My wife is an elementary reading specialist. I am a graduate school professor and chairman of the counseling department. I also have coached high school wrestling for decades and hope to coach somewhere in Lake County now that we have moved. School I attended Lake Ridge Junior High and then Calumet High School, graduating in 1977. I wrestled for all four years and those are some of my greatest memories of high school. I then graduated from college in 1981, graduate school in 1985, and later completed my Ph.D. in Counselor Education from Kent State Univeristy in 1996. I am now a graduate school p...Expand for more
rofessor and department chairmen in the area of counseling. College I enrolled in 1977 and graduated in 1981 with a BA in Education. During college and I met my wife and we married one week after graduation. I wrestled all four years in college. After graduation I enrolled in graduate school where I earned my MA in Counseling. Later, I graduated from Kent State University with my Ph.D. in Counselor Education. Workplace I've enjoyed my career trajectory. What an adventure! During graduate school, I worked as a counselor on a psychiatric inpatient unit. Upon graduation, I became a high school guidance counselor and a varsity wrestling coach. Later, while working on my Ph.D. in Counselor Education, I started a private counseling practice. These work experiences combined with my educational degrees have allowed me to enjoy my work/love: chairman of an graduate Masters program in counseling. I also love to write and have published five books, on, what else, counseling!
