Bob's Story

Life My Pets: It's a Heriage Classic with lots of extras. We go every where together, especially on cross country trips. During the last one we took a spill in Wyoming. I spent 11 days in Rapid City Regional Hospital, 15 months on crutches and canes, and Harley spent over a year in the shop. We are both OK now. My Kids: My son will be 29 on May 31, 2001. He works on computers as a programmer or something like that. He also has his own band called "Earl" which was nominated by Riverfront Times as the number 1 band in St. Louis. He was also nominated as the number one song writer. He is the lead singer and plays the harmonica and acoustic guitar. His band plays "Roots Rock". My daughter will be 27 on July 17, 2001. She is the prettiest girl I have ever seen. She is in a serious relationship and living in Denver, CO. I miss the hell out of her too. My Job: I've been a union carpenter since I got out of the Navy. I've built everything from homes to Downtown St. Louis. Went back to school and got a BS Degree in Sign Language Interpreting. Doing this allowed me to be in a variety of situations. I stood in the middle of Busch Stadium, worked in the gettoes, and signed the National Athem at Kiel Center. Interpreted at a lot of concerts too, which gave me the opportunity to meet some of the celebrities. I worked with Tanya Tucker once, and while on stage she came up to me and sang an entire song as if she was singing it to just me. There ...Expand for more
was a couple of thousand people watching so I was nervous as hell. School Who was my biggest crush for...hmmm....well let's see, I'll mention a couple that nobody probably knew about. I had a crush on Cecelia Becker from the 7th grade to my senior year. Then later during High School I had a big secret crush on JoAnn Ostmann and Claudia Middleton, just never had the nerve to talk to them. I did eventually help build Claudia and her husband's home in Festus, MO. though. No need in mentioning the ones that new I liked them. And of course Leslie Dittmar was my "first" love. And if I could do it all over again, I wouldn't have been so backwards when it came to talking to the girls. Who knows, maybe my entire life (and someone elses) would have turned out completely different. As for the crazy things I did, too many to mention and too many stupid ones that I regret. Military I joined the Navy Jan 8, 1970 (Elvis Presley's birthday) and spent four years as an ADR. That's an aircraft mechanic on reciprocating engines (Props). Did my boot camp in San Diego, CA. then went to Memphis for A-School. From there I went to VT-29 squadron in Corpus Christi, TX. About a month after I was there Hurricane Celia hit town, and she wasn't very nice. I got married right out of A-School so my wife and I lived off base in Flour Bluff. We stayed in Corpus for about a year and half, then went to the Detachment we had in Pensacola, FL. I loved it down there.
