Bob's Story
Life
Life after CHS started with a semester at Foothill JC where I discovered that I wasn't really ready to continue down the educational road so I fell into the trap of wants over planning for the future. That lead me to a short stint working in a steel yard, which was good for my physical condition but left out any stimulation of my intellect.
I was given an opportunity to work at NASA, Ames Research Center which I eagerly took and spent the next six years working in the Mechanical Instrument Shop doing a very broad variety of manufacturing tasks, some interesting and some mundane. NASA went through a down sizing in the early 70's and I took advantage of my unemployment and went back to college. I intended to got for a BS in Computer Science but after a couple years of that program I decided that field wasn't for me so when NASA called me up and asked me to return I took them up on their offer.

jects such as SOFIA, a 747 aircraft modified to carry a large aperature infrared telescope.
Along the way I married Karen Iddings and we have two children, Erin and Brian. Erin graduated from the University of Oregon in Eugene at the same time I retired from NASA and recently was married to Luke O'brien from Ohio. Brian is finishing up his last year at The Evergreen STate College in Olympia Washington and has plans to work in video animation in advertising.
Karen & I plan to do a little more traveling, commencing on Brian's life after TESC, with visions of Europe and the Carribean dancing in our heads.
Currently I am happily involved in senior league softball, trying to stay in some sort of shape, and a walking group that tours many areas around Seattle including some peaks in the Olympics and some urban walks through the city. I also sit on two boards of director, the BI Senior Center and the BI Woodworkers CO-OP.
Karen recently resigned from her part time position at a small family run business on the island so we have spending a bit more time together, She doesn't seem tired of me yet. ;-)
