Bob's Story
Life
Bob Mauskapf is the State Director of Emergency Preparedness for Virginia Department of Health. Prior to assuming his current duties in 2002, Bob served as a career Marine Corps Infantry Officer. He commanded at every operational level from rifle platoon and company commander in Vietnam through Battalion Commander for Light Armored Infantry forces serving in Panama during Operation Just Cause. He served also as an Officer Candidate Training and Recruit Training Company Commander and as a Base Commander. Operations, Plans and Training Advisor to the Commandant, Royal Thai Marine Corps. He completed his military career as Chief of Staff for Marine Corps Forces Atlantic, the largest operational command in the Corps.
After Bob transitioned from the military in 1998, he worked in the private sector as Terminal Manager, Area Vice President and Regional President in the Transportation and Distribution Industry.
He has earned a B.S. in Business and an M.S. in Public Administration and is a graduate of the Army War College, National Defense University, Armed Forces Staff College and Defense Language Institute (Vietnamese and Thai) and UNCÃÂs Southeast Public Health Leadership Institute. Bob has attended numerous post graduate leadership, public relations and resource management courses.
