Bob's Story

Life A couple of years after high school I joined the US Navy and served two tours in Viet Nam, one aboard the USS Forrestal, and another as a River Rat on an assault landing craft in the rivers of 'Nam. After a couple of other "world tours" and finally returning home, I went back to school, where I graduated from Kilgore College and later from LeTourneau University with a BS in Business Management. I served in law enforcement for over 30 years, working as a patrol officer, Detective Sergeant, Shift Commander, and several years as Police Chief. A little later, I "ran for" and was elected Mayor of White Oak. Upon my first retirement, I worked as a Corporate Security Manager for Trinity Industries, Inc. and traveled extensively. For several years I have also been involved in a ministry which serves motorcycle clubs and associations. Several years ago, I had the good fortune of being one of the primary characters in a historical book, "Sailors To The End", which details the US Navy's worse disaster since World War II. k's release, several TV networks have done specials on that event and there has been talk of a movie of the incident. After my second "retirement", I started a Private Investigation agency, have done government contract work, in addition to serving on staff at a Council of Government; where I specialized in Homeland Security issues. In August '07, I retired again - for the final time. Now ... I have the opportunity to putter-around in my recently built shop. When I get bored, I'll throw a leg over the motorcycle and tour some of the United States that I haven't seen before. I sometimes go treasure hunting with my metal detector, and though I have not found that big pot of gold yet, I haven't given up hope. <grin> One of my other hobbies is photographing old Texas courthouses and I now have all 254 of them in my personal collection, including a variety of more recently built ones. "You only go around once in life." If you waste this trip, you don't get another chance! Maranatha! Want more BS, go to bobshelton.mysite.com

The sun was shining and the temperature was good, so I decided to go for a nice walk. As I was walking along, minding my own business, wearing my customary blue jean jacket and a Vietnam Veteran ball cap, a vehicle pulled
Several times in scripture, the expression “mysteries of God” is mentioned and most of us have simply accepted that as something that only the Creator knows, which man simply does not understand. No big surprise there, huh
I was reluctant to re-post this material, and have been thinking about it for the last couple of days. In all honesty, I wasn’t sure how people would receive it, possibly thinking that I am just “blowing my own horn”, but

Nope, it ain’t a dance per se, but it will probably make beads of perspiration pop out all over your body.
