Bob's Story
After we graduated in 75 I immediately went in the US Army as an air traffic controller from 75 - 78. When I got out I had the Viet Nam Era GI bill, so basically free school, so I went to Shoreline CC from 78 - 79. But, the US Gov't came calling again, so I became a FAA air traffic controller in Lewiston, ID from 79 - 81, when President Reagan fired us all (a good read is Collision Course: Ronald Reagan, the Air Traffic Controllers, and the Strike that Changed America by Joseph A. McCartin (Author)). I was banned from Federal service for life (fortunately, we were all pardoned by President Clinton). I spent a quarter at Lewis & Clark College trying to figure out what to do next and then transferred to the UW and got my BS in Political Science in 84.
After the UW, I went Willamette University College of Law in Salem, OR receiving a JD and Certi...Expand for more
ficate in Dispute Resolution in 87.
I was a Lawyer (Assistant Attorney General and private practice) from 87 - 1999 in Seattle, Tacoma and Olympia. I dipped my toes in the water as a manager for a couple of state agencies for a couple of years (Washington State Criminal Justice Training Commission and Washington State Human Rights Commission) in Burien and Olympia.
I then became an Administrative Law Judge in 2001 with the State of Washington until 2012 when I went to the US Gov't (again, thank you President Clinton) in Columbia, MO and Eugene, OR. I finished off my last 8-1/2 years as the Chief ALJ in Eugene.
My personal life would read like a bad novel, so I won't bore you with it unless you really want to know (I'm happy to tell the story, it's just long and, well ...)
I am SO glad to be retired! Enjoying music, sports, camping, the pets.
