Bob's Story
Life
After graduating from Bell High in 1976, I went to Western Kentucky University where I ran cross country and track and graduated in 1980 with a double major in Journalism and Spanish.
I was then the sports editor at the Middlesboro Daily News for two years, a sports writer at the Kingsport (Tenn.) Times-News for three years and the sports editor at the Aiken (S.C.) Standard for three years.
For the past 23 years I have been at Lander University, Greenwood, S.C., where I am the assistant athletics director for sports media -- aka sports information director. I also coached cross country for 19 years until the program was dropped in 2008.

ave one son, Ian, who was born in 1993. Tammy died tragically in 2004 after an 18-month battle with cancer. I have since remarried and have a wonderful new wife Cherith, who is a high school English teacher. Cherith has a 9-year-old son, Jakob, who also lives with us.
I get back to Pineville about once or twice a year to visit my brother Eddie and his family. My twin sister Barb lives in Johnston, S.C. and works at a hospital here in Greenwood.
I've always felt that I had a great high school experience and will always treasure the memories from Bell High. I have only been back to Western Kentucky twice since I graduated, but I'm always looking for a reason to go back to Bowling Green again.
