Bobby's Story
I am a retired chemical engineer and founder/CEO of a specialty engineering services company headquartered in Houston, TX. I am a 1968 graduate of Mississippi State University with a BS degree in chemical engineering and a 1969 graduate of Cornell University with an M(Eng) degree in chemical engineering.
I was born in Washington, DC. But, I lived in the greater Houston, TX area for 48 years from 1972-2020. My wife (Jane) and I retired in 2012 after long careers in engineering and senior leadership (mine) and information technology and senior leadership (hers). Her career was in NASA’s Space Shuttle Program. She and I celebrated our 57th wedding anniversary in Dec 2023.
We relocated in August 2020 to Charter House, a retirement community owned and operated by Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. Some of the key reasons we love Rochester are the genuinely nice and caring people, the small town, the clean air, and the easy access to Mayo Clinic’s world-class medical knowledge and services which we know will become even more helpful as we age. Jane and I are each long-time, grateful Mayo Clinic patients having started in Scottsdale in 1999 before shifting to Rochester in 2014.

arch in which I am keenly interested. And, I have become an enthusiastic volunteer and student (as a lifelong learner) in the Historical Suite in Mayo Clinic’s historical Plummer Building, in Heritage Hall in the Mayo Building, and in leading History & Heritage tours through the downtown campus. I especially enjoy leading special tours for college students and members of professional and service organizations as well as for prior, current, and potential Mayo Clinic employees. I am currently serving as a member of the newly formed Patients and Families Advisory Council (“PFAC”) for Mayo Clinic’s $5 billion expansion project in Rochester (Bold.Forward.Unbound in Rochester).
I have been actively involved in genealogy and family history since 2005, and I wish I had started sooner. I am a participant in the WEBB Surname DNA project, and I am actively involved in EDGAR, DICKINSON and HIGH Surname DNA projects and genealogical studies. I am a member of the General Society of Mayflower Descendants, the Sons of the Texas Revolution, and Texas First Families. I also have qualifying ancestors for membership in the Jamestowne Society, the Order of Descendants of Ancient Planters and the National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution with applications pending.
