Life
Well, the school of hard knocks aint all it's cracked up to be...but I think I turned out pretty good.
I went to Merced Community College and worked for my Dad as a mechanic in Mariposa for a about a year after high school and then thought, "why are you wasting your time going to school and making $0 (OK, it was more like $20/week) working for Pop when you can be the "Manager" of a pizza place?". No brainer, right? a few years go by and I decide it's time to try something else, so, pest control it is. Actually a fun job once you got over the whole "what are these chemicals doing to me?" thing.
Well, another few years go by and I get a call asking if I'd be interested in opening my own pizza place in another town. It was by this time that I had realized I was headed nowhere and that my earning potential was very limited living in Mariposa and saw this as a ticket out of there. Off to San Juan Bautista I move and start a new life. It was there that I learned alot about business and met my wife and had my beautiful daughter Morgan. 3 years in that business was enough for me. I then started up with a Networ...Expand for more
king company in San Jose and that was a major turning point in my life. I just totally soaked it up and learned everything I could, eventually getting my MCSE certificate. I rode the tech wave while it was good for about 7 years. I was working for a Web hosting / Data Center for my last 2 years as a Sr. Systems Sales Engineer (absolute awesome job!). I survived 5 rounds of lay-offs during the tech implosion and then it was my turn. That really sucked!! I also split with my wife during that time, which isn't such a bad thing. Not sure what to do, I spent the next 5 or so months trying to get back into what I was doing to no avail. A friend suggested that I try the Mortgage business and introduced me to the guys that I work with now. I've been at this for about 2.5 years now and am loving it. I bought a house across the street from Morgan's school and have been spending just about all of my free time working on it.
Looking back at the wild kid I was, I'd have to say I'm damn lucky to be here and it's all good.
I would certainly love to hear from any of my former classmates and catch up. I live in San Jose. Shoot me an email.
