Bobbi/Barbara's Story
Life
My Spouse
Allen and I met in 1992 at soccer practice for our boys. I was talking to a friend and he joined in. We had lots in common. When he asked for my phone number I forgot it (had just moved) and told him to call the soccer mom for it. Thankfully, he got the number! He is a wonderful husband and father. We have lots of fun no matter what we are doing.
My Kids
My son, Michael, born 5/82, lives in Cartersville and works with his father in the auto glass business. He is "into" music--plays about everything. He is divorced. Allen's children are Lori, Jami and Wes. Lori, born 4/77, is an Auburn grad, married to Kevin, and is a stay-at-home mother. Jami, born 7/78, is also an Auburn grad, an RN at Children's Hospital and is married to Willie. Wes, born 8/81, is an Army 101st Div. Gulf War vet, is in college and married to Malorie.
My Grandkids
Lori and Kevin have a daughter, Ella, who was born in 2/04, and two sons, Owen, born 7/07, and Henry, born 11/11. They live nearby allowing us to see the children frequently. Jami and Willie had Scieler 4/08 and Leah 12/09. They also live nearby so we get to see them a lot. Malorie brings Lochlan--3/05 into th...Expand for more
e family circle. Jaxon joined us in 3/09 and Autumn came in 2/14.. Wes's family lives about an hour away in Cullman. Michael had Tungsten 2/08. They both live in Cartersville. Being a grandmother is wonderful!
My Education
I graduated from Univ. of Ala. in Birmingham with a degree in Human Resources. I graduated seminary at the University of the South--Sewanee May 2011 with a Masters in Divinity.
My Vocation
In 2007 I finally acknowledged God's call on my life to enter the ministry. The call was initially heard when I was 20 but the cirmcumstances of my life changed so I believed it was no longer a possibility. Well, God never let go. The candidacy requirements for the United Methodist Church were met in 2008. I was accepted at Sewanee. I received my first appointment serving as a full-time student pastor at a dual charge--Spring Garden UMC and Union Grove UMC. After graduation I moved back to Birmingham and served St. John's UMC in the Center Point area. Currently I live in Valley, AL and serve the Five Points Circuit: Fredonia UMC, Sweet Home UMC, and Chapel Hill UMC. Each day brings a new adventure with God as I walk in the path He has laid before me.
