Bobby's Story

School You know, everyone referred to me as the "smart one," but I can be quite foolish at times. I have a tremendous sense of humour, and can easily make people feel good and smile. But at Fairley, most folks just remember me for my huge afro that I actually wore on a daily basis. The girls at the time did not believe me when I would profess my geniune interest in them. And for some reason, in spite of all the friends I had at that glorious place, I never really felt like people knew me. I had this huge crush on Rashedah Young, every since Fairley Elem. If I could go back, I would try a little harder to win her attention long enough to say how I feel. I must say that Mrs. Herron, Mrs. Bynum and Coach Sharpe inspired me the most while in Bulldog County. They were always there to encourage and influence me along the way. Without them, who knows how I would have turned out...Does anyone remember Angel's last day at school before she killed herself? She and I had a brief conversation. If I could go back, I would have talked a little longer to see if I could help her. Remember how Randii used to always stop to dance a little in the hallways? Who can forget Ms. Wood's English classe...Expand for more
s? Remember the bomb threat? Everyone evacuated but Ronnie Payne and me. We were just walking around, walking around. But anyway, I really was a cool guy, still am, so y'all need to get with it. College I have loved, and lost, in college! I have many memories! Coach Johnson wanted me to play basketball for him, the first day he saw me play! Yeah, I'm just that good! I went on several road trips and made new friends. I was a leading member of LeMoyne Owen's Honors Program, the DuBois Scholars. We had a house that only the scholars could hang out in, and I did just that. I used to get my hair braided by Christina Mitchell, a lady I loved and still love, but most girls hated and still hate! I went to Paris, France to make my international singing debut at Notre Dame Cathedral. It was a smash hit, let me tell you! I loved that city, and would love to go back. Oh, the memories! Workplace I have been at the same job for a few years. My college advisor took this job at Soulsville, a non-profit that houses the Stax Musuem of American Soul Music and the Stax Music Academy. He liked me so much that he asked me to do some internship there, which lead to me getting hired full-time.
