Bonnie's Story
Life
Hi!I moved away to Beirut, Lebanon in 1967 then returned and finished school at Richland High.I graduated a year late (72)due to the differences in systems.I left again in 74 and lived in England then moved back home with my British family in 97.
My husband and I have 3 girls born in '82, '84, and '86 so they are now 23, 21 and 19. All three attended Richland High school and all were VERY involved in the Theatre department.
School
My craziest school memory I really shouldn't print here! Benny Dennis and Dana Pratt will appreciate my silence!
College
I did my college in England. I lived near by so I didn't have to room there. Besides, at that time, I had 3 young children! (I was 37 when I went to college!)
Workplace
I don't think this space will allow me to write in ALL the jobs I have had so I will summerize.
I started at Jack-in-the-Box on 26 (Richland Plaza) - and did that for a while - briefly worked at Chuck Wagon on Baker Blvd. Then trained in electrolysis and then moved to England in '74.

receptionist at a car dealership and moved up to accounts. Did accounts there in Bath, Avon for a few years until I moved to Suffolk and found another car dealership and did accounts there as well. My last job as an employee was with a construction company (you got it, doing accounts!). After that I took off to have a family.
While my girls were growing up I trained to do "Child Minding". I did that for a couple of years until my space came up at Suffolk College. Then in '91 I started my training in Midwifery. That took 3 years. After that, I have done only Midwifery.
Moving back here to the States was a bit of a culture shock in my field. Midwifery is concidered "a little out there" and doctors tend to think we're uneducated old women. Sad. It is a growing field here in the US and I am proud to say that it looks like my business partner, apprentice and I may be involved getting the first birthing center in Tarrant county up and running if all goes according to plan!
I love what I do. It is exhausting but very rewarding.
