Bonnie's Story
Seems that everyone from the LOHS class of '65 is or will be turning 65 this year. This life journey has had it's share of beautiful, joyful moments & excrutiatingly painful times as well. I'm happy to say I'm still with my husband of 43 years, Jerry. We've lived in Ohio, Indiana, and Florida. We moved to Texas six years ago so I could take a new position at a small college. We're both retired now & bought a few acres up in Northern Michigan last summer. I'm going to let my creative spirit take over & develop all those "artsy" projects that are waiting on the backburner.
I have fond memories of my life in Lake Orion. It is still home to me, even though all of my extended family members have either moved elsewhere or passed away. I remember living & playing on Andrews St. with the Arthurs & Sheradys. Then we moved over by BlancheSims & there were the Bartleys & ??? (can't remember). Then we moved over on Shadbolt, then out to "Chinese Village" (as Dad called it). Finally we moved back to town over on Bagley by the ballfields. Sandy Lawrence & Sue Sinclair were...Expand for more
my neighbors. Sandy & I spent a lot of time together. I also consider Trudy Carney (Wiseman)& Marj Sullivan (Watts) two of my closest friends. Of course, my dearest comrade was & is my cousin, Vicki.
Surprisingly, several years ago I reconnected with another childhood friend, Dave Christensen, through this website. He had just gone through his first transplant surgery & we met he & his wife, Linda, for dinner when they came to Florida for a vacation. Well, they ended up moving to Florida & we talk with them several times a week, as well as visit back & forth. One of the things that's great about connecting with Dave again is that he can remember so much about those good 'ole days in Orion. There are some things I wish he would forget, but they're good for a laugh anyway. I also get together with Vicki, Marj, & Linda Paulson for a "girls' getaway" each spring in Phoenix. We laugh, tell stories, & just have a great time. We sometimes wonder what's going to happen to all of us when we get "older", then we have another drink & find something else to giggle about.
