Boyd's Story
These days my time is spent commuting between Detroit & Shanghai, (now living on the outskirts of Shanghai in the country and managing an office in d'town SH and one in Seoul). My move to the countryside is a big change from being downtown in a city with 40 million people. More time spent there than here and have not spent more than a few weeks at home in the USA for at least a couple years. When I'm home unfortunately don't spent much time picking up after myself LOL!).
Divorced in 2000, my return trips were mainly to see my kids. Now they are all nearly grown, (24, 22 & 17). These days they don't seem as excited about me dragging them around the lake on a tube, or hanging out with Dad as they did a few years ago.
As an adjunct to my job, was coerced into some lecturing here in the USA on doing business in China, and very recently invited to teach a class in China to a class of Chinese advanced English students on Western culture and on Western slang, (anybody who remembers me will remember that bein...Expand for more
g at a loss for words was a welcomed occassion most did not have the pleasure of enjoying). Living in the Chinese countryside has it's difficulties as there are virtually no English speakers, so it's time for this old dog to learn some new tricks (really need to improve my Mandarin).
My hope in the not-too-distant future is to do some traveling dedicated strictly for pleasure in Asia. Maybe I'll finally visit Australia, New Zealand etc. Over the years have had the pleasure of work related travel and have visited 14 countries in Euro, 6 in Asia & 7 in the Americas, 46 states, 5 provinces Canada and 10 states and DF in MX. Keeping to form have forgotten or lost something on every trip!
Not sure about this venue, (followed a link in an e-mail and whoosh was asked to fill in a "what have I been up to" story. Though it is meant for others to catch up with each other after the years of absence, it may also be a cathartic opportunity to do some writting, (and maybe sell me a subscription)!
By for now.
