Brad's Story

Life Married for 17 years. Wife Debbie. Three children, Brianna (16), John (14), Giselle (Jessie) (8). (All three adopted from Guatemala) .. I recently took a new job in Ashland, KY. I am the Director for Patient Financial Services at Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital. It is part of a bigger organization called Bon Secours Heath System Inc, (BSHSI). It is kind of fun because I get to travel a little. My first trip was to Williamsburg. half a day meeting and then the rest of the day and all night at Bush Gardens (on the company). In October we went to Baltimore to an old Catholic retreat center there and bonded with other Bon Secours members. February we go to Greenville SC, meet on issues and then test drive cars on a Mercedes track... OK .. The 70 hour work weeks are finally starting to pay off. Plus they have a bonus plan ... Pay me more to do my job ... I love it. The Iowa caucus' are taking plan now. It is always interesting to see your old hospital (Broadlawns Charity Care Hospital in Des Mointes) as the back drop for the candidates talking about how they are going to change healthcare ... no proposals ... just more change for the sake of change ... haven't they messed it up enough since 1982? I have recently backed away from some of the things I have been involved in. Coaching my Son's soccer team. It was a lot of fun, and I loved watching these little kids grow to be young men. I enjoyed watching them mature into good people, and knowing I had a small part of that. I just got too sl...Expand for more
ow to keep up with them. Too many surgeries, and the over 50 stuff may finally be catching up with me. I resigned from the Board at the Center for Individual and Family Services in Mansfield Oho when I moved down to Kentucky. It was a fun place to learn to manage politicians (other board members) while tring to make the organization better than when I started there. (The real credit belongs to the president of the Center - She was GREAT!) It is time consuming, but I am vowing to spend more time with the family this time. I like the politico, but my family is growing too fast to keep up with them. My daughter is watching my type right now so I better not say anything bad... She is laughing I just finished working with Jessie (8 year old) on her easy bake oven. She loves baking for the family and Debbie wasn't up to it today. We made brownies and cake ... the frosting was the best part. She can't get enough. I love spending the time with her. John and Brianna are 14 and 16 now ... they grow so fast. I won't have very much time to spend with them. I will miss them when they are out on their own. We are planning a family trip to Disney World in 2008 Since 2002 I have been putting everything on my Disney card and I think I am up to about $ 1600 in disney credits ... I am ready for a real vacation. It is been about 10 years since I took two weeks off that didn't involve some kind of emergency surgery. I still keep in touch with some of you, but I would love to hear from more .. Talk to you soon Brad
