Brad's Story

WIthin a few weeks of graduation I joined the Air Force. After four years, I was discharged in 1970. I began working for Delta Air Lines in April of 1970. I retired from Delta in 2005, after almost 35 years. After living the life of leisure for a few months, I was employed by a company that markets medical laboratory centrifuges, lab analyzers, and medical test kits. Short retirement! I remarried in 2010.. My wife is the former Linda McKendree, also a BA '66 grad. We went steady during our freshman and sophmore years. After seeing one another only once since then, at the 1986 reunion, we reconnected in 2009. This time, we made up our minds to never part again. We'd both been married before, but discovered that we were destined to reconnect in order to finish what was interrupted so many years ago. We were married on July 5, 2010 at the Dallas Arboretum. I have two sons, Chris(47) and Steve(44). I also have 4 grandchildren. Steve and his wife Marilee are parents to Alexis-23, Jacob-20, and Madelyn(Maddie)-17). My older son, Chris is father to Rowan-12. I'm proud of all of the latest generation. Alexis and her husband, J.T, recently presented us with our first great=grandchild. Josie. l. I've become a bit of a western/mountain man era history buff. I've traveled quite a lot( especially in the western U.S). I've seen much of the Oregon trail. I've climbed Independence Rock in Wyoming, attended the annual Mountain Man Rendezvous in Pinedale Wyoming, been to Monument Valley in Utah/Arizona, visited the Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks in Wyoming several times. I've driven the "Going to the Sun Highway" through Glacier National Park in Montana, numerous times (a favorite place). I learned to snow ski at the age of 40, and have skied in just about every western state that has ski areas. Durango Colorado has been a favorite summer location. I also enjoy the Pacific Northwest. The Seattle Washington and Portland Oregon areas are favorites and I dearly love the Columbia River Area. We live in Garland about 3 miles from where we grew up.. I lived in Richardson, Texas from 1977 until 2010. I've attended all of our '66 class reunions except the 10th(didn't get notified). I recently recovered from Covid-19, I spent 6 weeks in the hospital, It was over 3 months before I was able to get off of auxiliary oxygen. I still have a ways to go to regain my former stamina but am making progress.
