Brandi's Story

Life Here is me...I have 2 beautiful children (a girl and a boy), and I have the same goofy personality I've always had. I went on to get my B.A. degree in Psychology from Augusta State University in 2000, and I completed my M.S. in Applied Clinical Psychology from USC-Aiken in May 2004. I am currently a special education teacher at Butler High School on the southside of Augusta. This summer (2007), I'll move to Atlanta with my children. I have accepted a job at an alternative school in South Atlanta. At this point, it isn't unusual to find me running around in water fountains with my children or acting like an idiot at the karaoke bars with my friends. I'm still a little dorky, but I pretty much stay out of trouble these days. I have more goals to accomplish in the future, but when looking back at things, I feel pretty good about how life has been so far. School Well, right after high school, I started to go straight to college, but I just wasn't ready. So, 2 years later, I went back for good, earned my B.A. in Psychology from ASU, took a year off and then worked full time at the sperm bank as a client relations specialist. As of May 2004, I completed my M.S. in Applied Clinical Psychology at the University of South Carolina-Aiken. College I don't know what to say here...just that I felt like ...Expand for more
it took a long, long, long time. I have a Bachelor of Art in Psychology, a Master of Science in Applied Clinical Psychology, and now they are forcing a Master of Education in Special Educaiton on me. Whew! If you remember anything about me in high school, you should know I am no scholastic being! I call myself a dork, because I'm not brainy enough to be a nerd! :) Workplace Wow, after dabbling here and there in this and that, I finally found the career for me...special education! Yep, that is soooooooo me! I get to combine my talents of entertaining others as the big goofball I am, along with increasing essential skills in those who need extra support. It feels awesome to finally have a career, as opposed to feeling like a career student (although taking classes will NEVER end now...haha). Other interesting positions I've held...hmm, after the bachelor's degree, I did client relations at the sperm bank. During my first round of graduate school, I worked as a psychological assistant in a cardiac rehab program. I also taught job readiness skills to those with severe and persistent mental illnesses. In addition, I have been the supervisor of a psychology lab, and I have even seen my own clients in a psychology clinic. Oh yeah, for a while, I was a "dummy patient" for med students at MCG. Fun! Fun!
