Brenda's Story
Life
A lot has happened since 1964. I stopped singing with Tex Williams just before graduation and got married to Rick Rickard exactly 1 week after I turned 18 yrs old in June of '64. We had 2 beautiful girls.....but Rick and I went our separate ways. I never went back into entertaining, but spent years working in nightclubs behind the bar or cocktailing from the HighDesert to Palm Springs to Luck, WI!! Had a mild stroke in '92 while living in P.S. working in R.E., then spent many years with daughter and grands in Oregon [she has 3]; my other daughter is in Ohio [she has 3 boys]. I am back in SoCal taking care of MY mom, now, and WAS caring for dad, too, until his passing in 2002. Haven't been to too many reunions, it's hard 4 me to do much out-of-town activity. My sister still lives in the High Desert, so I do visit up there often. I live near Redlands. If you remember me, please email me. Hope to hear from you.Time marches on....... It's now Nov, 2010 A lot has changed since I started this story and a lot has stayed the same. I've been back in California for 10 years now, and sadly, I still miss Oregon! I still take care of my mother who is now 91 yrs old. I am in the Women's Ministry now at my church and I lead a class of Senior Single Lad...Expand for more
ies called the Joy Class. I was in a different religion for over half my life, and tho it was very different from the church I'm at now, it has been a salvation because I finally am beginning to know and understand The Word. I studied all religions and embraced them all in as a member of the Church of Religious Science (Science of Mind) and then similarly in the Unity Church, but I have been changed by studying the Word of God and it is Good. I have also become Great Grandmother to twins last month. My first Great Grandchildren!! I am so proud of my family as it grows and matures and as one by one they seem to be coming to a new life under God's Grace as well. It's a good life. God is Good.
My School History
I finished high school in Victor Valley in 1963 1/2, but graduated with my classmates in the Summer of 1964. I went to several colleges; my last 2 1/2 years was in Oregon at Mt. Hood Community College where I studied Travel/Tourism/Hospitality. I became a Travel Agent, left that field and re-entered the field of Real Estate Rentals/Property Mgmt. I am now an In Home Caregiver
and will be continuing training in Hospice Care and eventually Pastoral/Chaplain in Hospice Care as well. It is my goal to remain in the workforce until I am 72!
