Brent De La Paz:  

Life has gone so quickly... Hmmmmm...so much to say, so little time. I can't believe it's over 25 years and I have plenty of gray hairs to prove it. First of all, many are asking who is the De La Paz character? I'm still wondering tht myself. A couple decades ago in college, I found out about the original old family name after learning that my great, great grandfather was actually hung by Pancho Villa's men almost a century ago. He lived to tell the tale (thanks to a brother who hid in the bushes and cut him down from the hangman's noose, but he had the rope burn scar around his neck as a reminder of the Mexican Revolution). My great great grandfather lost the "De La" when he crossed the border from El Paso as a American guard decided De La Paz was too long to write into the entry book. Ah, true story. I was briefly back in the Portland area after a 13-year stint in Goldendale, Wash., where I was a publisher of a weekly community newspaper in the Columbia Gorge. Can you say Green Acres and marrying the dreaded Zsa Zsa Gabor??? Anyway, before that I was living in Alaska, working at a radio-television station in the far ends of our 50th state (Can you say Ice Station Zebra!!!!!) . Brrrrr....but it was always nice to get that Alaska state dividend. Back in the publishing business (well sort of), running a division of Clipper Magazine in Oregon and in Seattle-Tacoma.
