Brent's Story

Life has gone so quickly... Hmmmmm...so much to say, so little time. I can't believe it's over 25 years and I have plenty of gray hairs to prove it. First of all, many are asking who is the De La Paz character? I'm still wondering tht myself. A couple decades ago in college, I found out about the original old family name after learning that my great, great grandfather was actually hung by Pancho Villa's men almost a century ago. He lived to tell the tale (thanks to a brother who hid in the bushes and cut him down from the hangman's noose, but he had the rope burn scar around his neck as a reminder of the Mexican Revolution). My great great grandfather lost the "De La" when he crossed the border from El Paso as a American guard decided De La Paz was too long to write into the entry book. Ah, true story. I was briefly back in the Portland area after a 13-year stint in Goldendale, Wash., where I was a publisher of a weekly community newspaper in the Columbia Gorge. Can you say Green Acres and marrying the dreaded Zsa Zsa Gabor??? Anyway, before that I was living in Alaska, working at a radio-television station in the far ends of our 50th state (Can you say Ice Station Zebra!!!!!) . Brrrrr....but it was always nice to get that Alaska state dividend. Back in the publishing business (well sort of), running a division of Clipper Magazine in Oregon and in Seattle-Tacoma. Husky fans and I mix quite well (NOT). Almost bad as the Trick or Treat Rodents (OSU..how was that Rose Bowl?) fr...Expand for more
om Corn Valley. Blessed with fairly good health and I still keep in touch with my many friends from d college (Go Ducks!)and of course high school (Charlie Charger is still there, hidden under some hideous green and silver paint. Makes me sick every time I visit the parents and sister and nieces (who now live in Gresham) in Troutdale. The boycott continues. (The school is still open, but the name was changed to protect the innocent). What a zoo. We were lucky to have small class sizes. My Parents are doing well. They still have the big Halloween and Christmas light displays on Hensley Road in Troutdale for all the country to see. Both are semi-retired (Dad says he's just "tired", but still running their interior decorating biz part time, so if you need good, reputable painters, wall papering, blinds, decorating, call Truly Yours Interiors in Troutdale (my plug). If you want to get in touch, send me an email with my first (brent)and last name (delapaz) - don't forget the delapaz at the hollering site. Now living in dreaded Husky Land in Seattle-Tacoma, starting the new Clipper Magazine editions in Federal Way and Puyallup and Auburn areas. For you throughout the country..some are called Savvy Shopper and Mint Magazine, but most are called Clipper Magazine! Great food and other deals at the w3 couponclipper. Big news..getting remarried to my longtime best friend and love of my life - Joan in Honolulu! Aloha! See you at Autzen and once in a while at Safeco! GO DUCKS! BDLP OUT!
