Brett's Story

Chapter 1: I haven't made a name for myself in the TV show, "A 1000 Ways to Die". Considering this fact, I believe to be successful enough for the Lord to not admonish me to save my soul from hell. Chapter 2: Now that I have your attention, i spent 5 years after H.S. in the "fast lane" until it dawned on me that I didn't want to work with my body to earn a living; my epiphany came from observing Virginia, a 55 y.o. waitress coworker at the Slobster, i.e. Red Lobster, as she weased, mowned, complained when carrying trays to customers. Nope'r'ease...not the life I wanted to continue with. Chapter 3: I became a professional student, determined to get all I could from my education; not just grades but what it has to offer. Art, Drama, Mathematics, Physics, Psychology, Martial Arts, Architecture, Structures....ya, 10 years worth. i could have continued soooo much longer, but being older than the other students became a bit creepy...those girls were candy to the eyes; and my personality was being tested...oh, to be young in the 20's again...much easier to be dangerous and care free with the decisions. Fortunately, God kept me grounded...my priorities at this time were God, School, Family, Work, and then Friends...ya, if you weren't convenient, I didn't have time for you. Chapter 4: Y2K was the year that I celebrated the completion of my education trip. I left with A.A. in Psychology A.S in Mathematics B.S. in Architecture and finaly a M.Arch in Structural Architecture. Getting me through this involved quitting restaurant work for Jewelery for a year; landing a sweet position in Banking as a teller for 6 years; and getting my feet wet at a local architectural firm for 6 years. Then, 9/11 came... Chapter 5: 9/11 caused the economy to go quite sour within a year. Darn, I just bought a sweet, sweet car, Toyota Avalon, and planned to have it paid off w/in 2 years; took me 3 on a 4 year loan...not too bad. Meanwhile, after being laid off from my job, I side stepped into another local enginerring/architectural firm for several years. The experience was good, but ended on a bad note. My best project was the Mueller Museum, and my worst project was the Warrensburg Bus Maintanence Garage, doing the structural design for each. Chapter 6: Now my Dad's physical and mental abilities are being challenged; so, I being the brainy-ack of the siblings, took on the responsibilities of managing the family farm that my Grandfather had built. Been doing this job part time for 10 years now...I remember hoping for Corn to reach $1.90/bu and Beans $4.50/bu just to keep the folks out of debt as the medical expenses are beginning to increase. This year is my best year for price w/ Corn at 7.75 and Beans 14.04. With the lack of rain though this year, I sure hope for a d...Expand for more
esent yield...it's going to be rough. Chapter 7: About the time I changed jobs to yet another local engineering/architectural firm, I had a couple years of farm management experience and was doing both (still am) I met my wife to be. We met 2/18/04 and married 25 mths later on 3/18/06. And I have to shop for a B-day gift since today is 8/16 and it's on 8/18. There's just something to do with that number 18 and us. Good thing I didn't meet her in my early days, I'd probably have 18 little one's...whew! Thank you God...You are merciful to me. He must have known I couldn't handle that thought to come true. Chapter 8: I'm going to bed now...1:30 in the morning, and I have to work in...well, when I get in...I like my job; I've been bringing my dog, Junda, to work with me since the wifey is out of town this past week; not too many people get to do that....huh! Yes, thank you Virginia for all that you did...or could not do, it changed my life! Chapter 9: Didn't I already tell you I'm going to bed? Yes, I snore. And have bruxism when I sleep. ...now having to edit content to allow posting; taking out the foul language...now the 'at' symbol...finally, story wizard: I always wanted to be a alive when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a dead idea. As it turns out, they were both. Blow off steam: work hard cleaning something neglected. Relax: couple of cocktail drinks and a smoke If I'm going to work somewhere, I need to have internet, radio, and Junda to be able to deal with the day-to-day. My hero: Mr. Brady on the Brady Bunch show, he is what I became...just not all the way there yet. The one person from my past who I'd most like to see again is my neighbors Phil & Dorthy Nadenbush, because they moved to a nursing home; they were my other parents.. If I could improve my home, I'd remodel my nieghborhood and add on a new roof, furnace, and A/C. My dream home would be underground.. If I won $100 million, I'd give <--stike that, and replace w/ take...all of it to puchase bldgs, then spend the rest on opening pawn shops, micro brewerys and guns. My current age is 44. When I was 12, I thought that people my age now would be ...not sure. I was so completely child-like.. My best friend would tell you I'm right, but people who don't know me very well would probably describe me as dogmatic. I share my home with my wifey, which I find adorable. In 10 years, I hope to be alive & healthy. I'm going to get there by getting my lower G.I. again this fall. My first job was at my neighbor's mother's house down the street, where I got paid various amounts to mow, and talk w/ her on the bench swing. What I remember most about it is her super, hot son's daughter (she was my first love). ....'kay everybody, it's after 2am now...
