brian's Story

Been living in San Diego for a good number of years. Recently self-published a book on the psychology of reading comprehension (see "The Alchemy of Reading Into the Chemistry of Words: A Book on the Psychology of Reading Comprehension" by Westy Weeds at Amazon.com). Most people would not remember me as any kind of scholar because when I was in High School I was not academically inclined. In fact when I look back it amazes me how naive and unprepared for life I was when I graduated from high-school. After my Agna's Café dishwashing job I did a short stint at the chicken factory and then Burlington Railroad as gandy dancer. Laid off for winter and recruited to Navy (in a bar of course). From there one of many wondering off-plants. Had some issues and quite frankly still have a few but at least now I can occasionally get my head above water. But then since I have studied over the years a good deal on history, human nature, politics, current human realities I have, I hate to say, become quite alienated with the whole human race. I have, I hate to say, lost faith in humanity and the United States. Still I go on. Still dealing with the alcohol dependency issue--but thanks to a degree in Health Education (never taught school but did get a broad education) I have almost enough wherewithal to go on and deal. At least I go to the gym on a regular basis but dealing with osteoarthritis and some joint issues. Over all OK but never to have achieved any thing most Americans would call Economic Success. I have never married but was engaged once. No children and quite frankly would not condemn a child to the 21st century and all the turmoil brewing....Expand for more
Have learned a great deal about cooking and enjoy the routine hobby. You can read my essay "Saladify" by Briareus on the Internet. By the way you can read the preface, introduction and first chapter to my book if you click on "See inside the book" at the Amazon entry. Few people know about this very interesting and readable book--17 chapters and 480 pages for a mere 20 dollars! Living with an elderly man as a caretaker. He is a worthy person and has helped me as a friend. Also I have put up a friend or two visiting this very tourist town. Lots of sun. Also have tuned into some websites that actually share real news and commentary that can be very different from the mainstream/ lamestream media. It's scary how much can learn if one really is willing to focus on getting truth. Have also written on political and social issues. I do not do Facebook and social media much--I know a lot about NSA politics. Listen to ScottHorton.Org and watch DemocracyNow.Org for example. Also I'm sorry to say I still to this day do not know how to post a picture of myself and do not own a camera and have never had a cell phone (but in some respects I don't feel I'm behind the times because I focus on what is important to me. Been working in gardens mostly pulling weeds part time (the old fashion way) but using the time to listen to audio books--I have listened to a number of books from the public library. I do not miss the Minnesota winters much. Last time in Minnesota was when my father died a few years ago. I still have a sister (Lynn) and a brother (Brad) living in the Saint Cloud area. So in some ways I am the same and in others ways I have evolved.
