Brian's Story
What do you do when your reality exceeds your dreams? Yeah, I wish. lol I wish I could say that my story entailed me marrying my college sweetheart, having two wonderful children, a dog & a cat, living in a home with a white picket fence, bbq'ing on Saturdays and playing golf on Sundays, but I regret that such is not the case.
So, does that mean I took the road less traveled? Let's just say I took the path that most would be wary of following. Nevertheless, the powerful play goes on, and I should consider myself fortunate that I may contribute a verse (W.W.). To this end as Thoreau so aptly asserted, "the mass of men lead lives of quiet desperation". wardly and less ambitious of us who choose a life bereft of challenge and risk, only to settle for one consisting of toiling away at little that matters, except to the cockroaches many decades henceforth.
While many fear that they may not be remembered by succeeding generations, mine is that I may not matter to those who are near and dear in the present and to the strangers also, for whom my mere existence may only slightly or indirectly have a modicum of influence on them. This is why, for me at least, the choice is simple, yet often difficult, because the path that lay ahead is frequently uneven, sprinkled with rocks and filled with pitfalls. But I remind myself that only the meek and faint of heart hesitate and turn back.
