Brian's Story

Life I am living in Indianapolis and happily married to Jean, a native Hoosier. We have three boys: Erik 9, Kylan 6, and Kristofer 4. The family picture is from Christmas 2007. I manage the eBusiness Team for the Residential and Light Commercial division of Carrier Corporation. My team is responsible for all of our channel web sites and electronic sales and marketing tools. I had worked for EDS for 7 years prior to that. In my spare time, I'm on the board for a local Kiwanis Club and HOBY, a worldwide high school leadership program. I'm also a high school football official and a member of the football committee of the local officials association. I am a Cub Scout Den Leader and coach Kylan's baseball team. We are active members of Holy Spirit at Geist Catholic Church. I also had the opportunity to serve as team host for George Mason during their trip to Indianapolis for the Final Four! What a memorable experience!! My family is most important to me, and I love spending time with my wife and boys. We live on a cul-de-sac and the kids love playing outside with all the neighbor kids. We do make it back to ND about every other year. My parents are still in Minot. My sister, Becky, is a neurologist ni Fargo where she lies with her husband and 2 daughters. School High school was a good experience for me, but I wish I would have been more involved. I always felt I was one of the brainy, nerdy kids and didn't really fit in anywhere. I now realize I didn't really make the effort to find a place. My fondest memories include basketball road trips, the Close-Up trip to Washington DC, and cruising Broadway (how lame!). College I came out of my shell in college. I was a bookworm and somewhat anti-social in high school, but I became very active at NDSU. I was a member of Theta Chi Fraternity and involved with Bison Ambassadors, AIA (architecture organization), and a few honor societies. I was also an executive in Student Government for two years. I did run ...Expand for more
for student body president one year but lost. After getting so involved in college, it made me wish I had done more in high school. The activities really enhanced my education and made me much more marketable coming out of school. That was especially important because I realized during my 4th year that I did not want to be an architect. I used the different skills I developed as a student leader and have turned them into a very good career. I enjoy keeping in touch with my college classmates and following all the activities at NDSU. I'm especially excited about NDSU going to Division I because they have joined conferences with teams in Indiana. I'll get to the see the basketball teams in downtown Indy every year at IUPUI! I also completed my MBA in 2007. I attended Anderson University, a small private school north of Indy. They have a good program that fit my schedule and had a Christian focus. I am glad to be done though! Workplace I've been very blessed with an excellent career. My first real job was working for my fraternity headequarters. I was able to travel the entire country (80 campuses and 41 states) visiting undergraduate chapters and doing chapter reviews, training, and leadership development. I spent about 18 months in a couple unsuccessful sales jobs before landing at EDS as a programmer and project manager. I got to work with clients such as Saturn, Allison Transmission and Dow Chemical. In May 2004, I changed jobs (and to some extent careers) when I started with the Carrier Corporation. I started as a content manager for web site used by our distributors and dealers for marketing and product info. I have received a couple of promotions and now manage the eBusiness organization for one of our divisions. It's a challenging yet exciting opportunity. I also hope to continue rising in the ranks as a football official. I've been doing high school football since 2001 and hope to start doing some college football in the next couple years.
