Brian's Story
I attended R. E. Fitch High School in Groton, CT until my dad was transferred to Puerto Rico for his final tour of duty. Since he would only be there a year, we moved from Groton to Wisconsin which was Dad's home state. I have affiliated with two schools here but still Consider Fitch "my school" even though I didn't graduate from there.
I left Wisconsin right after graduation and didn't go back unless it was to visit my parents. But, I have been back to Groton many times...I even did a tour of duty there. I worked at the Navy Undersea Medical Institute where I taught in the Submarine Independent duty Corpsman course, Radiation health technician School, and the Undersea Medical Officer course. I even returned to Fitch as a football coach from 1995 through 1997 under Head Coach, Mike Emery. I still go back to visit from time to time and Connecticut stills feels very much like home to me.
My lovely bride and I have a beautiful daughter who just finished college and our son is doing great in high school despite his challenges with autism. I'm so proud of how hard he works and his cheerful persistence.
His struggles and the isolation our family experienced because of his disability became the inspiration...Expand for more
for my doctoral research. The latest outgrowth of that research is a book entitled "Genocide Prophecy: Autism, the church, and a new (American) Reich. It was published early in 2023. It has sold out on Amazon twice and is has recently won a literary award. Best of all, 100% of my author royalties are donated to ministries that serve people with intellectual or developmental disabilities, or those that protect the human rights of people with disabilities.
After years coaching football and contributing to many championships, I thought that if I ever wrote a book, it would be about football. So far, no such project is planned.
I now live in the Southeast, where the winters are mild and short and the growing season is long. We spend a lot of time at the beach.
My nearly 30 years of military service gave me many great experiences, allowed me to meet a lot of wonderful people, and see much of the world. It hasn't all been great, but the experience gave me a unique love for people and my country that I wouldn't trade for anything.
I have received a few messages on this platform, and If you remember me and would like to say hello, I'd love to hear from you. I hope you're all doing great!
