Brian's Story
Life
Well folks, here I am. This year I turned 57 yrs young. Eleven years ago I retired from the RCMP after 26 yrs service. Until January '07, I was a protective services officer, crew leader, at Highland Valley Copper near Logan Lake, B.C. Presently I am on Long Term Disability from the mine with a breathing disorder caused by an illness called Sarcoidosis. So don't do a lot anymore except hang around the house or the firehall and wait for golf season. I can do stuff as long as I don't have to exert myself too much.
My wife Susan and I live in Ashcroft, B.C. 30 miles west of the minesite or an hour west of Kamloops. In October '06 we celebrated our 25th anniversary. We have two children Meghan, 24 yrs, and Ryan, 22 yrs. Both of whom live here in Ashcroft. Meghan works at the local granular plant and Ryan at a sawmill about an hour north of town. ectrician and fiber optics technician and manages the communications end of a company in Vernon. Rob is a Mechanical Engineer graduating from U Vic in Victoria, lives in Ashcroft, and is the Engineer at the same plant Meghan works at. Jason and his wife Shelley have a daugther Carly who who was born in Jun '05 and a son Liam who was born in Nov '07. Rob and Gwen also have a daughter Katie who was born last August '06. My wife Sue is the office manager at the local Royal Lepage office. I am also the Fire Chief of the local Volunteer Fire Department. Due to the illness, I do mainly administrative work and can only do the command stuff at a fire without getting actually involved in firefighting anymore. Maybe thats a good thing!!
I am also the Cariboo region rep on the Provincial Firefighter Advisory group for Muscular Dystrophy Canada
